Creators Update created total annoyances for me, following the prior major 2016 update. Autocad 2014 limped with the 2016 update, but following Creators installation, Autocad would intermittently crash, mainly when doing file saves or switching between files. These crashes occurred 3 to 10 times per day and were not replicatable. I am told that this code change is due to Microsoft updating.net to 4.6 from 4.5. Autodesk has released an update to fix the following AutoCAD 2018 problem: Product users of version 2018 Autodesk single-user subscriptions may experience an intermittent crash. Autodesk is refusing to issue any sort of patch, as the whole 2014 - 2016 product range is based on using.net 4.5 libraries and the update would mean a massive amount of recoding and beta testing for something they are not making money from. This means that if you have Autocad 2014 through 2016, you should stay on a windows 7 machine, and you should prevent.net 4.6 from installing, and you should express some level of justified anger towards whoever decided to make old programs unusable. (as in: just about dead) I am totally grumped out. I had to upgrade a machine to suit windows 10 demands and autocad 2018 demands and then migrate all settings. Now I have to hope that my production environment does not run across other 'easter eggs.' This is ok for people surviving on old subscriptions, but those with frozen older Autocad versions are in for a costly change to Rent-A-Cad with Autodesk, as Autodesk no longer does that permanent license thing. So keep your old machine happy, healthy, and ignorant of the new world.
